Refurbished Green Computers
It is widely agreed that the most environmentally friendly way of dealing with surplus computers is to extend their useful life – to give them a “second life.” This massively reduces the amount of good usable equipment going into landfill.
What is refurbishment?
A refurbished computer will have a fresh install of the operating system, drivers, anti-virus and office package. The computer will be thoroughly tested to ensure that it free of errors and that the performance is good. Finally the computer will be fully cleaned inside and out.
Who are refurbished computers for?
Our Community Microsoft Authorized Referbisher (MAR) program seeks to re-home the very best computers we collect with the people who need them most. This may include low-income families, voluntary organisations, the un-employed and individuals on state pensions.
Is it true I can get free software?
Yes, if you are a charity or a not-for-profit organisation you can access free licences for Windows XP and MS Office through the Microsoft’s Community MAR program.
